Frans Theuws

Frans Theuws is professor of medieval archaeology at Leiden University. He obtained his BA in history at the Radboud University Nijmegen, his MA in medieval archaeology (cum Laude) at the University of Amsterdam, and his PhD (cum laude) at the University of Amsterdam.
In 2002 he was appointed professor of historical archaeology north of the Alps at the University of Amsterdam. In 2012 he was appointed professor of medieval archaeology at Leiden University. He obtained various substantial grants from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). In 2017 he obtained an ERC Advanced Grant for the Rural Riches project.
